Basic Life Support Renewal
This is a Renewal Class. Must possess a valid Basic Life Certificate through - American Heart Association, American Red Cross or HSI. This course reviews both cognitive learning and hands-on practice with life-saving equipment. There will be a test given. You must score 84% or higher.
Course Review & Skills Session Requirements
During the session we will review key emergency response topics including:
• Opioid overdose recognition and response
• Care for an unresponsive victim with an obstructed airway
• CPR technique adjustments when an advanced airway is in place for both adult and pediatric patients
• Care for an unresponsive victim with an obstructed airway
• CPR technique adjustments when an advanced airway is in place for both adult and pediatric patients
Students will also demonstrate the following skills:
• Assessment of the victim and activation of the emergency response system
• High-quality CPR including chest compressions and breaths using a breathing barrier
• Providing effective breaths using a bag-valve mask (BVM) device
• Proper use of an AED
• Relief of an obstructed airway for an adult victim
• Relief of an obstructed airway for an infant victim

Students must successfully complete five cycles of CPR and demonstrate competency in all required skills.
